On 16th September 2010, we attended the online marketing trade fair, Dmexco in Cologne. Our impression: the big marketers increasingly spread themselves out, whilst smaller, often more interesting exhibitors, seem to disappear. And ... there was not really any big news or a big trend in online marketing on the horizon. The sessions in the halls and corners were rather boring; only the wide range of presentations and the different methods of individual companies to approach and address visitors were interesting. What I liked for example was the
free demo app by Meyle + Müller, which was supposed to be developed for interested parties on the day of the exhibition itself. I had commissioned it for my own project '
rechtsanwalt.am; unfortunately, however, it had not been possible to complete the app in time. In addition to its marketing platform "Microsoft Advertising", Microsoft also presented its new game Kinect for Xbox 360. Although this had nothing to do with internet marketing, it attracted a lot of visitors (perhaps precisely for this reason). We too, were not able just to walk by and followed the invitation to play a game called "Joy Ride", a fast motor race. We even worked up a little bit of sweat as Kinect is played using hands, arms, legs and feet. All in all, the Dmexco 2010 was not what one expects from Germany's biggest online marketing trade fair, even if one - just like us - has only spent a day there. See below our video of the motor race at the Microsoft stand.
